The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah has successfully defended a Master's thesis entitled:

"Antioxidant, Anti-inflammatory, and Antidiabetic Effects of Boswellia dalzielii and Gum Arabic Extracts in Alloxan-Induced Diabetic Rats"

The thesis, presented by student Ruaa Abdul Wahid Jabbar, investigated the antidiabetic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects of Gum Arabic and Boswellia dalzielii extract, both individually and in combination, in alloxan-induced diabetic rats.

The effects of the treatments were evaluated by measuring blood glucose levels, insulin concentrations, and insulin resistance, in addition to oxidative stress and inflammatory markers. Histological changes in the pancreas were also assessed, and immunohistochemical staining for insulin was employed to evaluate the presence and distribution of insulin within the pancreatic islet cells.

The study aimed to assess the antidiabetic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties of Gum Arabic and Boswellia dalzielii extract — each separately and in combination — in rats with alloxan-induced diabetes.

This research contributes to elucidating the potential benefits of Gum Arabic and Boswellia dalzielii as natural adjunct agents for improving diabetes-related disorders, and evaluates whether their combined use provides greater therapeutic benefit than either agent used alone.
