Foundation & Integrated Origins

The department was established alongside the founding of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah in 1999. During this period, clinical pharmacy as a specialty was integrated with the pharmaceutics department under the name "Department of Pharmaceutics and Clinical Pharmacy".

Academic Autonomy & Specialization

The year 2012 (as per the English record) marked a pivotal milestone when the two specialties were officially separated. The "Department of Clinical Pharmacy" became an independent specialized entity, enabling deeper focus on clinical health sciences and hospital training programs.

Modern-Day Excellence

Today, the Department of Clinical Pharmacy continues to play a central role in graduating clinically competent pharmacists, with an intensive focus on hospital-based practical applications and research aimed at improving healthcare quality.
