Bachelor degree in Pharmacy
The College of Pharmacy - University of Basrah is adapting an undergraduate study program awarding BSc in Pharmacy. The study period of this program is five years during which the students will gain all the knowledge and skills to work as professional pharmacists in hospitals, community pharmacies, pharmaceutical industry and academia.
During the study programme, the students will study topics related to different pharmaceutical sciences including drug delivery and dosage form design, pharmacy practice, pharmacology and toxicology, pharmaceutical chemistry, clinical laboratory sciences and pharmacognosy.
Regulation for study process
1- Duration of the Study in the college is 5 years.
2- Study courses are 2 courses per study level (year), the required to complete till graduation are 10 courses
3- Total study units required for graduation are 184 units
4- Evaluation system for the student’s activity for study subjects using mark scale of 100 points.
5- The minor grade for pass is 50% per subject.
The graduation grade (cumulative Grade) of the student will be calculated:
By sum the calculated ratios (cumulative Grade) from final grade for the study level (year) and as follows:
First year 5%.
2nd year 10%.
Third year 15%.
Fourth year 30%.
Fifth year 40 %
The student's relationship with the college ends in one of the following two cases:
- If the student fails two consecutive years in his level.
- If the student exceeds the determined period of study, including years of repetition,
- The years of postponement and non-failure are not counted as such.
- A student may defer his or her studies for one year for legitimate reasons to which the council of the College is satisfied that he or she must submit an application for deferral at least 30 days before the commencement of the final examination.
