Basrah - College of Pharmacy Media:
Dr. Rita Sabah Elias, a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy, University of Basrah, participated in a specialized scientific training program within Professor Lyudmil's research group at the Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry, affiliated with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in Bulgaria.
The intensive training included conducting an advanced spectroscopic and theoretical study on the tautomerism properties of some curcuminoid compounds in chemical solutions, in addition to advanced practical training on complex spectral data processing techniques.
Dr. Rita explained that these compounds possess broad-spectrum therapeutic efficacy against various types of diseases, as curcuminoids (including curcumin) are medically active substances with anti-cancer, antiviral, and antibacterial properties, among other effects against pathogens.
It is hoped that the precise scientific results obtained during this training period will serve as a cornerstone for a promising scientific topic within a rigorous research paper that will be published internationally in the near future.
