The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah discussed a Master's thesis entitled "Study of Magnesium, Selenium, and Iron Serum Levels in Women with Hypothyroidism in Basrah Governorate," presented by the student Maha Abbood Hassani Mahdi.
The study Cleanly aimed to evaluate the relationship between thyroid hormones, blood groups, and trace elements in women with primary hypothyroidism in Basrah Governorate. It included a group of female patients diagnosed with the disease and a control group of healthy women for comparison, where levels of thyroid hormones and trace elements (selenium, magnesium, and iron) were measured, along with blood group identification and analysis of potential correlations among these variables.
The results revealed significant differences in certain indicators between the two groups. The study contributes to improving the understanding of the role of blood groups and trace elements in primary hypothyroidism, and its findings may support early assessment and more effective monitoring and treatment strategies.
