
A research team from the College of Pharmacy registered a patent . The author of Dr. Hussein Nasser Khalaf Al-Salman, Dr. Iman Tareq Ali and Dr. Shaker Abdul-Salem Neama Al-Jadaan registered a patent from the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control under the title (Use of 2-benzhydrylsulfinyl-N hydroxyacetamide-Na to treat Breast and ovarian cancer). The patent aimed to investigative and disclose a new compound, and the main objective of it is to find out whether this compound is an effective factor in limiting the growth and proliferation of ovarian and breast cancer cells inside and outside the body and as an alternative treatment for chemical doses. The patent included that the new compound 2-benzhydrylsulfinyl-N-hydroxyacetamide-Na extracted from the fruits of figs kills and inhibits the growth of cancer cells, as well as the possible side effects that may be caused by the new compound were measured, and the results showed that there were no side effects on the liver, lung, kidneys and spleen. This is an excellent indicator that indicates future therapeutic applications of the new compound as one of the natural products that could be used in the future.
