Master's Thesis Defense | Protective Effect of Hibiscus:
A Master's thesis at the College of Pharmacy, University of Basrah, explored an important scientific topic titled: (A Study of the Protective Effect of Hibiscus Plant in Protecting Endocrine Glands Against Oxidative Stress Caused by Chlorpyrifos in Experimental Rats), presented by the student Murtadha Issam Sadiq.
The study aimed to demonstrate the efficacy of antioxidants extracted from natural plants in supporting and strengthening the body's antioxidant system against oxidative agents encountered in daily life.
The thesis involved inducing oxidative stress in adult male experimental rats using Chlorpyrifos, determining the potential of Hibiscus extract as an antioxidant to reduce harmful effects on the endocrine glands, and comparing this efficacy with Vitamin C. The study concluded that Hibiscus extract shows significant effectiveness in mitigating the damage caused by oxidative stress on vital body parts such as the blood, liver, thyroid gland, and reproductive system.
