Discussion Panel Held on "Current Therapeutic Strategies for Structural and Functional Repair of Spinal Cord Injuries"
The Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences at the College of Pharmacy, University of Basrah, organized a specialized session on structural and functional neural repair.
The panel featured a presentation by **Dr. Rawaa Salem Hamid**, evaluating the efficacy of **Minocycline** as a combined therapy with **Neural Stem Cell Transplantation**. The findings demonstrated a significant decrease in astrocytic scar formation—the primary barrier to nerve regrowth—resulting in enhanced axonal regeneration.
With over 130,000 new cases of spinal cord injury reported annually worldwide, this study represents a vital milestone in regenerative medicine. It offers promising clinical prospects for restoring mobility and neurological function in patients affected by these debilitating injuries.
