Workshop Held on "Biological Hazards in Research Laboratories" for Postgraduate Students
The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah conducted a specialized biosafety workshop targeting postgraduate researchers to manage biological risks in high-level labs.
The workshop featured a presentation by **Dr. Zuhair Al-Shaheen**, who classified pathogenic agents into four primary risk groups, detailing strictly mandated safety protocols for each. The session covered procedural methods for biohazardous waste disposal and advanced sterilization techniques—both physical and chemical—based on microbial classification.
The primary goal of the workshop was to clarify institutional safety procedures for complex research projects. It empowered students to identify diverse microbial threats and their respective handling requirements, ensuring a secure laboratory environment for all scientific personnel.
