The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah recently held a high-level workshop concerning the specialized requirements for academic promotions and international publishing standards.
Presented by **Dr. Zuhair Ghalib Al-Shahine**, the session detailed the legal durations and ministerial credentials for advancing through the ranks of Lecturer, Assistant Professor, and Professor. The workshop discussed the intricate credit point system (46, 52, and 59 points respectively), highlighting the elevated status of publications within **Scopus** and **Clarivate** repositories.
The primary objective of the session was to guide faculty members in selecting reputable scientific journals and avoiding predatory or commercial publishing traps. Practical demonstrations were provided on navigating the Scopus platform and verifying updated journal rankings, ensuring that all academic advancements reflect the true quality and rigor of the institution's research output.
