The seminar aimed to introduce students to the importance of pharmacovigilance and avoiding professional errors.
The discussion panel included a lecture given by pharmacist Israa Jamal al-Din Muhalhal al-Saad from the Pharmacovigilance Unit/Pharmacy Department in the Basra Health Department, in which she introduced pharmacovigilance and touched on the most important aspects covered by pharmacovigilance, the sciences on which it is based, and the products that fall under the follow-up list of medicines, supplies, herbs, and blood products. And vaccines. The importance of reducing pharmaceutical fraud and poor quality medicines was also discussed, and how therapeutic errors affect the increase in the rate of side effects.
The goals of vigilance and its contribution to increasing awareness and improving the health of the individual and society through the safe use of medicines, reducing rumors, identifying unexpected side effects and dealing with them through official methods were emphasized. Official methods for reporting side effects through the ICSR paper form were also introduced.
