Education announces Iraq's official accession to the Council of the International Center (SESAME) for Excellence in Scientific Research

Global Scientific Milestone

Iraq Officially Joins the SESAME Council for Experimental Sciences in the Middle East

The Ministry of Higher Education announces Iraq's official membership in the SESAME Council, the premier global center for scientific excellence in the region, specialized in advanced synchrotron radiation research.

Iraq's accession was confirmed by a majority vote during the council meeting held at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain. SESAME, which operates under the auspices of UNESCO, is the Middle East's counterpart to the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). This membership aims to bolster Iraqi expertise in medicine, biology, physics, and chemistry, bridging the gap between national researchers and the global scientific community.
