The Faculty of Pharmacy at University of Basrah organized a scientific seminar entitled "Environmental Pollution in Basra Province" with the participation of researchers and specialists. The symposium discussed a detailed study on the most important biological and chemical pollutants that occur in the water and watering in the province. As The seminar included a lecture delivered by Dr. Awatif Hamid in which she outlined the most important sources of biological pollutants, including the resulting wastes. From bioscientific laboratories as well as explained ways of destroying biological waste so as not to cause damage to the environment, but Dr. Tahsin Sadiq discussed the causes of the health problems faced by Basra governorate during the period of high salinity in the Shatt al-Arab. Dr. Nawras Jamil also pointed out the most important pharmaceutical pollutants that are released through sewage as well as other residues. Which negatively affects the health of aquatic life as well as human beings. In his lecture, Dr. Hussein Nasser referred to biopollutants And its impact on the amount of oxygen dissolved in water and the effect of organisms in water the symposium aimed to identify the types of pollutants in the water Basra governorate and methods of estimating its quantities and treating its effects. The researchers recommended at the symposium that the regulators take their role in following up Medical laboratories in Basra and their obligation to use modern methods in the treatment of biological waste as well as the face of researchers To find new ways of treating sewage in the province.
