Under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Nabil Abdel-Saheb, President of University of Basrah, Prof. Saad Shaheen, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Falah Hassan Shari, the Electron Microscope Unit was organized in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Iraqi Innovation and Creativity Center, under the slogan (University of Basrah is a beacon  For Creativity and Innovation) the first patent conference for the College of Pharmacy and the fifteenth for the Innovation and Creativity Center, with the participation of researchers and specialists.

 And the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Falah Hassan Shery, stated: The aim of holding this conference is to benefit from the patents issued by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control for the medical, agricultural, engineering and applied sciences, and through the cooperation of universities, investors, businessmen and bodies that are able to transform these innovations.  Patents into practical applications are included in the implementation of projects that serve the community in those areas.

 Shri added: During the conference, which lasted on November 10-11, we listened to a number of submitted patents, amounting to (80) patents, which were presented and discussed with their owners, with the aim of maturing joint cooperation and coordination, and transforming these patents into practical and studied applications.  As for the recommendations that resulted from the work of the conference, a committee was formed to formulate the recommendations and issue the final statement of the conference.
 Dr. Falah explained that a scientific arbitration committee was formed to supervise the submitted patents and select the most appropriate ones, as the "Golden Cup" was awarded to the first four patents in the medical, engineering, agricultural and applied sciences fields.
 At the conclusion of the conference, the Director of the Innovation and Creativity Center, the President of Basrah University, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, and the Administrative Assistant of the College distributed certificates and medals to patent owners, participants, and technical and preparatory committees for the conference.
