university of basrah ,College of Pharmacy has organized a scientific symposium about Medical laboratories sciences

The College of Pharmacy at the  university of basrah  has organized a scientific symposium entitled (Medical laboratories sciences analysis and their roles in the community ).
The symposium has included three important lectures :The first lecture which was introduced by Prof.Dr.AbduIelah Abdul Hussain showed the standard degrees of medical laboratories because of their  great importance in supporting the health system. The lecture also illustrated that 70%of the diagnostic effectiveness of the diseases depends on the medical laboratories. Therefore, it should be emphasized to introduce the international quality system ISO (15189) for medical laboratories. The second lecture introduced by Dr. Qutaiba Abdulkarim was about the importance of cholesterol ,its benefits for the body and its relationship to atherosclerosis and heart diseases .It emphasized on the common wrong idea that cholesterol is harmful and may cause strokes because the modern studies in the recent years have concluded that heart disease and stroke  are  not directly related to blood cholesterol. The third lecture by Assist.Prof.Dr. Iyad Qasim also highlighted the importance of bioinformatics, which has become an important part in many fields of life and in experimental molecular biology, which includes the discovery of drugs ,health care , the comparison of genetic sequence and the evaluation of the molecular structures of all neighborhoods, which allows to extract valuable results after analyzing their data by software programs in a short time. The lectures  aimed to change the prevailing perception of the risk of cholesterol as well as the provision of preservatives and containers for laboratory models (biopsies) when sent to the pathological laboratory. They also aimed to raise awareness about the significance of medical laboratories sciences and  importance of early diagnosis of the diseases.
