Lecturers at university of basrah have recorded new bacterial isolates at the International Gene Bank.
Dr. Ban Mohammed Saleh Said, Prof.Dr. Shaker Abdulsalam from Pharmacy College and Prof.Dr. Basil Abdulzahra Abbas from College of Veterinary Medicine have recorded (15) new bacterial isolations which belong to the bacterium (Bacillus cereus) in the World Gene Bank.
The researchers have isolated the bacteria from different sources such as food samples and diarrhea samples and studied the responsible genes for resistance against tetracycline ,as well as the genes responsible for the virulence in these bacteria.
The study showed that these bacteria are resistant to tetracycline antibiotics, therefor the researchers have prepared new chemical compounds for the first time with efficient properties that may act as antibacterial agents against these resistant bacteria.
