A Master's thesis was discussed at the College of Pharmacy, University of Basrah, titled: "Study of the Relationship Between Serum Leptin and Glucagon-like Peptide-1 Levels in Patients with Diabetic Nephropathy."

The research, presented by student Haneen Hisham Fadel, aimed to evaluate biomarkers such as Leptin (LEP), GLP-1, MCP-1, Vitamin D, and PTH to determine their predictive value in the progression of renal failure.

The study concluded that distinct patterns of metabolic and inflammatory biomarkers occur across stages of chronic kidney disease. GLP-1 and PTH were identified as strong indicators, potentially aiding early detection and specialized treatment for diabetic patients.
