Dr. Falah Hassan Shari and Raafat Mohammed Publish Research on Herbal Topical Anti-inflammatories in "Angiotherapy"

Dr. Falah Hassan Shari and Assistant Lecturer Raafat Mohammed, faculty members at the College of Pharmacy, have published a study in the Australian journal Angiotherapy (Scopus-indexed).

The research explored natural botanical alternatives to traditional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to minimize systemic side effects. The study utilized extracts from Turmeric, Ginger, Frankincense, Ashwagandha, and Gotu Kola, evaluating their stability and efficacy in cytokine modulation using a carrageenan-induced paw edema model.

The findings demonstrated that these medicinal plant extracts possess potent anti-inflammatory properties when properly formulated into stable topical products. These results provide a promising and safer therapeutic pathway for managing localized inflammation compared to conventional pharmacological options.
