The College of Pharmacy organizes a panel discussion on medicines approved by the Food and Drug Organization in 2021

 The Clinical Pharmacy Department of the College of Pharmacy at University of Basrah held a panel discussion entitled (A review of some newly approved drugs by the FDA in the year 2021), with the participation of researchers and specialists.
 It included a lecture given by the faculty member at the College of Pharmacy, Nour Kazem, in which she presented the modern discoveries of drugs and their passing through several stages before their final approval by the Food and Drug Organization (FDA).  Extensive studies followed by a review process by FDA experts, and then exposed to general use when their effectiveness is proven and potential side effects are known. At this stage, post-marketing reports are received.
 In the year 2021, about (50) types of drugs were approved in various diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer’s, most notably the (cosela) treatment, which contributes to reducing the complications of chemotherapy in cancer diseases, as well as the treatment of fungi, which is the latest in twenty years, as well as a treatment that contributes to reducing the complications of diabetes on the kidneys and other medicines.
 The lecture aimed to present the most effective and most recent treatments to keep pace with the development in the field of treatments that are newly and annually approved.
