The College of Pharmacy organizes a workshop on how to deal with fires

The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah , in cooperation with the Civil Defense Division at the University of Basrah , organized a workshop entitled (How to deal with fires of all kinds) with the participation of researchers and specialists.  The workshop included a lecture delivered by Commissioner Haider Jaber to the professors and employees of the college, in which he explained the types of fires and the definition of fire as a rapid interaction of a flammable substance with oxygen accompanied by heat and light;  In order for a fire to occur, three main components must be provided together. They are known as the fire triangle, which is the flammable substance and oxygen or the oxidizing substance;  And a source of heat. Fires cannot ignite if one of the previous three elements is missing. Hence, it must be emphasized that flammable materials should be kept away from heat sources. There are many sources of combustion, including static electricity and sparks flying from some devices, as well as sources of flame and heating.  The workshops also included practical training on fire extinguishers, how to use them and their types such as water extinguishers, foam extinguishers, dry powder extinguishers, carbon dioxide extinguishers and wet chemical extinguishers in order to limit the spread of fire.
