Master's thesis at the College of Pharmacy looking at atropine extraction

A master's thesis at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah examined (extraction of atropine from some species of Datura and the study of its chemical properties and biological activity) by student Noor Hamid Mohsen. The thesis dealt with the study of different types of the genus Datura, which were collected from different regions in Iraq, where atropine was isolated and identified using HPLC technology, the compound was modified, and the effectiveness of the substance was tested for cancer.  the study concluded that Iraqi plants contain various chemical compounds in different quantities that vary according to regions and the possibility of modifying these compounds to obtain new compounds that have important pharmacological effects..
