Two lecturers Dr. Iman Tariq and Dr. Azza Sajid from the College of Pharmacy published a scientific paper entitled (Comparative Study of Interleukin 6, Markers of Inflammation, Ferritin, and Hematological Characterization in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis with Anemia Caused by Chronic Disease and Anemia Due to Iron Deficiency) in the international journal (Anemia) belong to Hindawi publishing with an impact factor is 2.8 within the SCOPUS index . The research included a study on anemia of chronic diseases (RA-ACD), anemia of chronic disease, which is the most common symptom of rheumatoid arthritis and is called anemia associated with inflammation. Iron metabolism in the human body. The study also discussed the factors that contribute to the pathogenic process of this type of anemia, including immunological and physiological ones. The most important factors are the imbalance of inflammatory cytokines. The aim of the research is to try to examine the serum level of (IL-6, Anticcp, hsCRP, Ferritin, CBC and ESR) as well as Hematology profile in patients with RA in comparison with healthy individuals and to reveal the possible relationship between serum IL-6 level and the level of Ferritin and the relationship between the serum level of IL-6 Iron status, as well as the necessity of using (IL-6) and estimating the level of ferritin in laboratory diagnosis, to differentiate between patients suffering from iron deficiency anemia and anemia for chronic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis.
