Institutional Digital Safety & Awareness

Awareness Seminar Conducted on "Cyber Security, Electronic Extortions, and Legal Safguards"

The Women's Affairs Unit at the College of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency, organized a comprehensive seminar regarding cybersecurity threats.

The seminar discussed critical technical and legal frameworks for protecting institutional digital infrastructure and countering electronic extortion (blackmail). It also highlighted the criminal justice protocols under the Iraqi Penal Code for cyber offenders, emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance against evolving digital vulnerabilities.

A formal recommendation was issued to establish a "Cybersecurity Operations Center" in Basrah. Furthermore, the public was encouraged to utilize the official hotlines—155 for the Counter-Terrorism Directorate and 144 for the Intelligence Agency—for reporting cybercrimes and extortion securely and with full anonymity.
