University of Basrah Leads Iraqi Institutions in THE Impact Rankings 2024
Sixty-two Iraqi universities and colleges have secured competitive positions in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2024, demonstrating a significant advancement in sustainable development goals.
Official results reveal an increase in the number of ranked Iraqi institutions to 62, up from 53 in the previous edition. The University of Basrah leads the national list, ranking (401-600) globally, followed by Al-Mustaqbal, Baghdad, Babylon, and Kufa Universities.

The THE Impact Rankings evaluate 2,152 universities across 125 countries based on the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Quality Education, Health, and Innovation. This progress underscores the rising international competitiveness of Iraqi higher education across global platforms including Shanghai, Scimago, and Greenmetric.
