Synergistic Hypolipidemic Effect of Lipoic Acid with Lipid-Lowering Drugs in Fat-Fed Hyperlipidemic Rats

 

Faculty members of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah, Prof. Dr. Basim Jasim Hamid and Prof. Dr. Falah Hassan Shri, have published a research paper entitled:

"The Synergistic Hypolipidemic Effect of Lipoic Acid with Lipid-Lowering Drugs in Fat-Fed Induced Hyperlipidemic Rats"

The study was published in the peer-reviewed Romanian Journal of Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases (Rom J Diabetes Nutr Metab Dis), classified within the third quartile (Q3) of the Scopus index.

The research evaluated the addition of lipoic acid to existing lipid-lowering drugs with the aim of enhancing their therapeutic efficacy and reducing potential side effects. Study results demonstrated that the co-administration of lipoic acid significantly enhanced the effectiveness of lipid-lowering drugs without causing any adverse side effects.
