College of Pharmacy Organizes a Workshop on the National Standards for the Accreditation of Pharmacy Colleges in Iraq

The workshop emphasized that fulfilling the requirements of national accreditation is the fundamental pillar for elevating the quality of pharmaceutical education and serves as the genuine gateway towards obtaining international accreditation, thereby enhancing the value of academic outcomes.

The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah organized a scientific workshop titled: "National Standards for the Accreditation of Pharmacy Colleges in Iraq." The workshop featured a valuable lecture delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Najm Aboud, detailing the critical programmatic standards that must initially be achieved in Iraqi Pharmacy Colleges to obtain national accreditation.

The lecturer explained that these standards encompass several core and strategic axes, including: the college's mission, the curriculum quality, student evaluation, and procedures for evaluating and monitoring the academic program. The standards also emphasize the level of student affairs, the faculty, educational resources, the efficiency of the college administrations, the advancement of scientific research, and continuous professional development. Furthermore, they stress the necessity of regularly updating educational curricula to align with modernity and labor market demands.

The workshop concluded that the intrinsic objective of achieving accreditation lies in the overall and continuous improvement of pharmaceutical education quality. It ensures rigorous evaluation to guarantee robust scientific outputs. Ultimately, it was affirmed that securing national accreditation is the preliminary and essential step toward achieving international accreditation, which in turn elevates the academic value of pharmaceutical graduates and bolsters their employment opportunities both locally and globally.
