The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah organized a workshop entitled (NCBI database, a new approach to molecular research in the field of cancer diseases and vaccines)
The workshop included a lecture given by Professor Dr. Abdul-Ilah Abdul-Hussein Sahin, in which he explained the use of the (NCBI) database, which includes molecular genetic information about the genes of all living organisms, and referred to a scientific research mechanism through which it is possible to identify documented proteins shared between cancer cells or high-risk pathogens with others that can be dealt with. With it and extracting these documents to be vaccines against pathogens or against cancer cells.
The workshop aimed to train graduate students to use the NCBI applied program and the BLAST technique to search for pathogenic proteins and work ALIGNMENT with selected organisms to find protein affinities. The program also includes three-dimensional drawings of proteins.
