College of Pharmacy Organizes a Workshop on Combating Cyber Extortion Amidst Contemporary Security Challenges
Committed to maintaining a secure academic environment, the College of Pharmacy organized a crucial awareness workshop titled "Together Against the Crime of Electronic Extortion." The session aimed to elevate public awareness regarding the severe risks of cyber extortion and its detrimental impacts on societal stability.
The workshop featured an in-depth lecture delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Nibras Salem Khudhair from Al-Kunooze University College. During the session, he thoroughly elucidated the diverse forms and severe risks associated with electronic blackmail while outlining strategic mechanisms to prevent these potential threats. He also engaged in a critical discussion regarding the advantages and detriments of utilizing social media platforms and navigating the internet.
Dr. Nibras directed specific awareness guidelines to the college students, instructing them on how to safely handle suspicious accounts belonging to anonymous individuals. He strongly advised against complying with any illicit demands and stressed the absolute urgency of immediately reporting incidents to competent authorities if subjected to any form of material or psychological cyber extortion.
Furthermore, the lecturer emphasized the necessity of exercising extreme caution when downloading smart digital applications, underscoring the critical importance of reading their terms and conditions meticulously. He warned against placing trust in strangers on social media, noting that perpetrators frequently exploit personal images and user information to blackmail individuals, with a particular focus on targeting students.
