Pharmacy Faculty Member Participates in International Workshop on the Philosophy and Applications of the "Hidden Curriculum" in Education
Professor Dr. (Falah Hassan Shari), a distinguished faculty member at the College of Pharmacy, University of Basrah, participated in the specialized international workshop titled "The Hidden Curriculum in Education," organized by the Scientific Events Portal in Malaysia.
The workshop facilitated a deep deconstruction of the "Hidden Curriculum" concept, tracing its historical roots and various terminologies, while highlighting its profound philosophical and psychological foundations. Participants discussed the educational applications of this curriculum and its indirect influences on shaping student awareness, in addition to analyzing the constants and variables governing this instructional pattern within contemporary academic environments.
Furthermore, scientific deliberations included the formulation of a comprehensive definition of the hidden curriculum and its derived philosophy, reviewing its six primary components. Attendees rigorously addressed potential risks associated with the hidden curriculum, particularly those related to consumerism and superficiality that may negatively impact educational values. The session concluded with strategic recommendations aimed at positively utilizing the hidden curriculum to enhance educational performance and achieve integration between explicit and implicit curricula within educational institutions through a professional academic approach.
