Pharmacy Faculty Member Participates in International Workshop on Basic Life Support (BLS) Foundations
Professor Dr. (Falah Hassan Shari), a distinguished faculty member at the College of Pharmacy, University of Basrah, participated in an international specialized workshop on "Foundations of Life Support," aimed at enhancing medical awareness of emergency intervention mechanisms globally.
The workshop featured an intensive technical lecture on "Basic Life Support" (BLS), which systematically represents a sequence of emergency life-saving procedures implemented in the event of circulatory arrest from any medical cause. The training program rigorously emphasized the absolute importance of this procedure during the critical first stage of assisting unconscious individuals suffering from impaired blood flow or reduced oxygen pressure in the blood, such as in cases of acute suffocation or vital organ failure.
The session prominently highlighted modern global trends encouraging members of the generic public to acquire cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills and apply them in extreme emergencies immediately after notifying specialized teams or ambulance services. Scientific deliberations confirmed that these procedures, even when applied by non-professional bystanders, can decisively save human lives. This participation aligns with the College of Pharmacy's sustained commitment to engaging with international expertise in medical emergencies and public community services.
