The Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah organized a workshop entitled (Iraqi universities between reality and ambition)

The workshop included a lecture by Dr. Rahim Jamil Muhaisen, in which he explained the most important international classifications of universities and colleges, the most internationally accredited, and included THE, QS, Webometrics Shanghai, and the ranking of universities according to academic levels (scientific or literary), as this ranking is based on a set of statistics or a questionnaire distributed to scholars, professors, and others. . The assessment is for the undergraduate and postgraduate stages, where the first often depends on the quality of education and the second on the level of scientific research
These classifications are based on objective criteria that have made them a reference in which international universities compete to occupy a prominent position and are referred to as one of the most important international classifications of universities and higher education institutions. It is noted that American and British universities dominate the first positions in these classifications.
Iraqi universities and colleges are also recording their increasing competition in international classifications, as the Times World Classification (THE) announced the results of its new edition for the year 2024, which classified and evaluated 1,904 universities from 180 countries around the world, in addition to the Webometrics classification, which recorded the attendance and competition of more than a hundred Iraqi universities and colleges.
