College of Pharmacy Organizes Specialized Symposium on Biomedical Study Design and Precise Statistical Analysis
The Clinical Laboratory Sciences Branch at the College of Pharmacy, University of Basrah, in cooperation with the College of Medicine, organized an extensive scientific symposium on biomedical study design, optimal statistical choice, and avoiding common research errors.
The symposium opened with a lecture by Professor Dr. (Azza Sajid), discussing strategies for medical, health, and scientific study design, and methodology for classifying academic articles between scientific reviews and experimental research. The lecture emphasized the structural importance of these classifications in data tabulation and organization, which in turn governs the choice of correct statistical methodology to reach precise scientific conclusions applicable to clinical practice.
From his perspective, Professor Dr. (Nael Hussein Ali) reviewed the methodological rules for choosing appropriate statistical methods for biomedical research, highlighting how to interpret data extracted from field research or electronic medical records. The lecture focused on utilizing this information to improve interaction between medical providers and patients, and developing comprehensive healthcare quality through evidence-based analysis.
The symposium concluded with a lecture by Assistant Professor Dr. (Alaa Hussein Abed), focusing on diagnosing common errors in statistical choice and how to overcome them. The lecture aimed to enhance the rigor of scientific research outputs for postgraduate students and researchers in Iraqi universities by identifying necessary corrections for statistical analyses, ensuring the accuracy of results published in reputable international journals.
