University of Basrah Rehabilitates and Activates the Dairy Production Plant at the College of Agriculture to Support Local Food Security
With the direct support of the President of the University of Basrah, the dairy production plant has been reactivated with a production capacity expandable to reach three tons per day, providing high-standard food products in compliance with Iraqi specifications.
The Dean of the College of Agriculture, Professor Dr. (Raghadan Al-Shara), stated that the plant, belonging to the Food Research and Consumer Protection Unit, has initiated the production of yogurt and various cheeses. All products undergo rigorous laboratory testing to ensure their health and nutritional quality, making them a safe and high-quality choice for consumers both inside and outside the university campus.
These products are currently offered through the college's marketing outlets, including the Bab Al-Zubair outlet and the main marketing center. This step reflects the university's vision of transforming research units into productive entities that contribute to supporting the local economy and serving the academic community by providing national goods with global standards.
Through these initiatives, the University of Basrah seeks to enhance the integration between scientific and applied aspects, developing the capabilities of specialized personnel in the fields of food science and agricultural manufacturing.
