The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah established a medical detachment on the road between Samawah and Nasiriyah to provide health and treatment services to visitors walking on foot on the occasion of the Arbaeen visit. The person responsible for the medical detachment, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Falah Hassan Shari, said: In an initiative that the visitors considered a mission, a group of professors and members of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah set up a medical detachment on the road connecting the Batha area and Holy Karbala for the purpose of providing medical services to the Arba’een visitors.
Sherry continued: The detachment was established with the efforts of members of the College of Pharmacy and its professors, as our team included professors and members of the college in addition to women’s medical staff, as we provided services to those walking and participating in the funeral, including conducting clinical examinations and providing the medications that were provided to them with self-financing, which included all types of painkillers, antibiotics, and antibiotic ointments. For skin rashes, nerve relaxants, vitamins, intravenous solutions, pain-relieving and muscle relaxant injections, anti-diarrhea and anti-acid, and medical supplies such as cushions and belts, in addition to devices to measure sugar and blood pressure, and everything the visitor needs during the walk.
It is noteworthy that this initiative of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah is held on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) annually as part of volunteer activities in community service.
