The College of Pharmacy holds a seminar on the Corona epidemic

The College of Pharmacy at University of Basrah  held a discussion session (Does the new Corona disease affect children?) With the participation of researchers and specialists via the electronic Zoom platform. The lecture given by Dr. Nour Mohamed showed the new Corona infection to children and the rate of its spread among this age group and the severity of symptoms in the infected and clarified the link between the emerging corona disease and Kawasaki disease, whose symptoms were seen in children with the emerging corona disease. The lecture added that the percentage of infected children is less than that of adults, and the severity of the disease is between mild and moderate, for several reasons that the researchers attributed. It is their immune system that is stronger than adults, the lack of mixing with people, as well as the lack of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2, which has a role in the speed of disease. The lecture explained that children are less likely to be infected, so there is no need for panic or excessive fear, and preventive and sterilization methods must be followed to reduce the spread of the disease and strengthen immunity is necessary to reduce infection or reduce complications in the event of infection.
