The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah discussed (evaluation of the use of antimicrobials and the prevalence of resistance in children with cancer in the Children's Hospital in Basra) by the student Hanan Alaa Al-Din Abdul-Jabbar at the University of Basrah / College of Pharmacy
The study dealt with the detection of the spread of resistance among antibiotics given to infected patients in the wards of tumors, and linking the infection to many of the characteristics of the patient.
The study provides details on a variety of microbial isolates and their antimicrobial resistance patterns in cancer patients at Basra Children's Hospital
The study concluded that the most common form of infection is a bacterial infection, and the most common antibiotic for cancer patients is the third generation of cephalosporins, and the chest represents the most infected place.
The results of this research showed that the most prevalent microbes, detected in patients with hematologic malignancies and shows a high frequency of antibiotic resistance.
