The College of Pharmacy holds a seminar on the preparation and analysis of pyrimidine derivatives

The Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department at the College of Pharmacy held a panel discussion entitled (Preparation and Analysis of Pyrimidine and 2-Oxypyridine Derivatives and the Study of Their Antimicrobial and Anti-Cancer Effectiveness) with the participation of researchers and specialists.
The panel discussion included a lecture delivered by Assistant Lecturer Esraa Radi Abdel Hussein, in which she explained the Analysis of the prepared compounds through spectral techniques such as infrared FT-IR, nuclear magnetic resonance 1 H-NMR and 13 C-NMR and mass spectroscopy.
The effectiveness of compounds as antibacterials of Staphylococcus aurous and negative of Escherichia coli was studied. The efficacy of compounds prepared as antiparasitic for E. granulosus was also tested. The effectiveness of the prepared compounds against the growth of cancer cells was tested, where the study was done on HepG2 cells and MCF7 breast cancer cells and the value of IC50 was calculated.
