The College of Pharmacy at University of Basrah organized an international electronic seminar (Scientific Research in Iraq: Obstacles and Challenges) with the participation of researchers and specialists. The symposium included giving lectures that began with Dr. Ribaz Hama from the University of Berlin - Germany, in which he explained the correct mechanisms to reach good scientific research and what the researcher needs from effort in choosing the topic and reading well the details of the research and encouraging the choice of research that solves specific problems in society or has the characteristic of innovation in addition To planning and determining the main objective of the research before starting work. As for Dr. Omar Sarheed from Ras Al Khaimah University / Emirates, he focused his lecture on the steps of scientific research to reach the desired goal by scheduling the steps and reviewing them from time to time through the researcher or in coordination with the supervisor, as well as encouraging the codification of research ideas through a research blog. The lecturer also emphasized the research design and its types, such as descriptive, statistical studies, review, or applied studies. The symposium also dealt with the obstacles and reasons facing the Iraqi researcher through a lecture given by Dr. Alaa Hussein from the Basra College of Science and Technology, in which he explained some of the reasons that hinder the production of researchers in Iraq for research that may allow the effective contribution of global scientific knowledge. The researcher also recommended forming a research team to systematically document these obstacles. And suggest solutions to it. And about the challenges facing postgraduate students, Dr. Uday Sajjad, a teacher at the College of Pharmacy at Basra University, talked about the challenges facing graduate students in Iraq, starting with writing the research plan, the mechanism for selecting the supervisor, providing the research materials and the necessary equipment, the method of writing the thesis and comparing the mechanisms with what Existing abroad and the necessary solutions to these problems in the short or long term.
