The University of Basrah has been selected as one of the best universities in the world in the World’s Universities Real Impact (WURI) ranking for 2023, which is considered one of the most influential rankings in the world. The university has been ranked among the top 100 universities in the world, according to the South Korean ranking program for innovative universities. The WURI ranking is based on real and impactful achievements of universities.

The President of the University, Dr. Saad Shahin Hmoodi, has been invited to present the university's achievements electronically on the 16th of this month at a conference to be held in Florida, USA. The conference will announce the top universities, and only 17 universities have been invited to the conference across 6 themes. The University of Basrah was one of the three international universities to win in the Crisis Management category.
