Assistant Professor Dr. Ula Mohammed Noor Al-Mousawi, a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah, participated in a scientific trip to the governorates of Sulaymaniyah and Erbil.

Al-Mousawi explained that our trip was scientific and aimed to collect medicinal plants for scientific research. May is the best time of the year to collect plants because it is the flowering season when the active compounds in most plants are at their highest concentration. Therefore, this month is the best time to collect them.

Dr. Ula added that we collaborated with Dr. Karzan Qadir Omar from the University of Sulaymaniyah and Dr. Sahar Hussein Rashid from the College of Agriculture in Halabja to collect various types of medicinal plants that are unique to the Iraqi environment. This was done to conduct scientific research on these plants and extract their active compounds.
