The College of Pharmacy at University of Basrah organized its first virtual international symposium (laboratory analyzes and requirements for preparing patient samples to diagnose the emerging corona virus disease (COVID-19) with the participation of researchers and specialists The symposium included a lecture given by Dr. Hussein Katae from the Faculty of Medicine Al Zahraa, in which he reviewed the efforts of University of Basrah in facing the Corona pandemic by preparing virus transporting mediums for corona virus and the swabs required to take samples from patients suspected of being infected with the virus. The symposium discussed by a lecture by Dr. Ahmed Al-Katib from Iran, the most important methods used to diagnose CORONA VIRUS infection, their accuracy, and the most important modern techniques used in this field. The symposium also demonstrated, through a lecture by Dr. Firas from the College of Veterinary Medicine, the method of preparing samples and what are the steps that precede the diagnosis using a device PCR.
