Workshop on Procedural Methods and Implementation of GLP Standards in Educational Laboratories

 

The Department of Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants at the College of Pharmacy, University of Basrah, organized a specialized workshop on Procedural Methods in Educational Laboratories. The workshop was presented by Dr. Suha Shiyal, with the participation of several researchers and laboratory specialists.

The session reviewed the concept of procedural methods as a comprehensive administrative and technical system designed to unify the management of educational laboratories and elevate their scientific outputs to achieve national laboratory accreditation. It was emphasized that implementing these methods represents the practical fulfillment of GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) standards.

The lecture also addressed implementation mechanisms, the responsibilities of laboratory staff, and how to transform these methods into a daily management system that ensures the occupational safety of workers and students while documenting all scientific activities with high precision.

The Five Types of Procedural Methods:
01. Administrative (Document Control)
Managing logs and official laboratory records.
02. Corrective Methods
Addressing errors and technical deviations immediately.
03. Preventive Methods
Anticipating issues related to work environment or equipment.
04. Internal Audit
Regular reviews to ensure compliance with standards.
05. Technical (Work Environment)
Focusing on occupational safety for staff and students.
