A faculty member at the College of Pharmacy participates in a scientific workshop on methods of translating technical books

Assistant Professor Dr. Laila Jassem Abbas, participated in the workshop held by the Computer Department at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Basrah in, . cooperation with the Center for Development and Continuing Education Dr. Laila indicated that the workshop was entitled Methods of Translating and Publishing Technical Books, as it included several axes, including tips on how to choose the appropriate book to be translated, which serves the largest segment of readers, and then the legal procedures that the translator begins with before starting the translation, such as obtaining the approvals of the original author of the book or the publishing house that I published it and then collected the largest number of specialized dictionaries that could help the translator in addition to his ,knowledge of his original language and the language in which the book was written. Likewise he must check every word, phrase, and sentence he translates, and not rely solely on electronic Google translate , programs or because such programs maintain templates that may not give the correct and intended technical and scientific meaning.
