Basrah - Pharmacy College Media:
The President of the University of Basrah officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Iran University of Medical Sciences, with the strategic aim of profoundly developing and expanding scientific and academic cooperation between the two prestigious institutions.
The Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Jubran Khalil Hassan, explicitly explained that the agreement includes the active exchange of faculty members, robust student mobility, and the sharing of highly advanced scientific and technical expertise across all medical sciences. This notably encompasses precise pharmaceutical sciences such as herbal medicine and alternative medicine, alongside other specialized medical sciences like nursing.
The comprehensive agreement also effectively mandates future collaboration to expertly train academic staff and students, continuously improve the overall quality of higher education at the University of Basrah, and facilitate joint scientific contributions in advanced laboratories, lectures, international conferences, and scientific symposia between both sides.
Regarding the College of Pharmacy specifically, the MoU focused heavily on extensively developing the Department of Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants. It established a joint strategic framework to allocate specialized agricultural land for cultivating medicinal herbs, conduct advanced laboratory work for extracting their beneficial active compounds, and develop the capabilities of clinical pharmacy staff.
Ultimately, the memorandum actively aims to open broad, promising horizons for strategic collaboration. It is purposefully designed to enhance the scientific, technical, and laboratory efficiency of medical staff, and critically provide the College of Pharmacy with modern, specialized scientific expertise in clinical, pharmaceutical, and nursing sciences, particularly in those rare sub-specialties that require robust support within the broader academic framework of the University.
