The lecturer at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah, Assistant Professor Dr. Hussein Nasser Al-Salman, was selected as a scientific reviewer in the Iranian Journal of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and included in the Scopus classification for his evaluation of the tagged research (simultaneous identification of levodopa, carbidopa and entacapone by derived spectroscopy) in it.
Dr. Hussein Nasser said: in this study, a number of medicinal extracts of plants entacapone, levodopa, and carbidopa were identified with high accuracy. UV-Vis spectroscopy has been used as an easy and low-cost analysis technique and a spectroscopy-derived method is applied to eliminate absorption interferences. For this purpose, the derived spectra were studied for each compound separately, and zero crossing points were determined for each. Zero crossing points at which adsorption was observed for only one compound were found and evaluated for quantitative analysis. These medicinal extracts were studied in different pharmaceutical dosage forms.
Al-Salman said that the journal is concerned with publishing research related to chemistry and pharmacy
