A research team at the University of Basrah publish a research paper in an international journal included within Scopus index.

Dr. Heba Daoud Abdel-Wahab, Dr. Nour Mohamed, and Dr. Falah Hassan Sheri published a research paper entitled (The effect of melatonin on some bone minerals in women who suffer from obesity or overweight before the age of menopause: the potential role in the treatment of osteoporosis) in the journal:The Australian International Journal of Drug Delivery Technology )which has an impact factor 0.113 and included within Scopus index. The research included studying the effect of melatonin and giving it as a dietary supplement for pre-menopausal women who suffer from obesity or overweight, and the potential effect on treating osteoporosis, which is one of the most common problems that postmenopausal women suffer from. The benefit of melatonin were learned from the fundamental role in increasing the rate of essential minerals for bone formation in women and thus reducing the chance of osteoporosis, which is the main cause of bone pain and fractures in women. The aim of the research is to assess and know the role of melatonin by administering it for two consecutive months and its effect on some signs of bone formation in women before reaching menopause.
