Researchers at the College of Pharmacy publish research in an international journal

Pharmaceutical researchers Fatima Farid, Prof. Dr. Osama Ayoub and Assistant Professor Dr. Mohsen Saghir Ghalib, have published a paper titled (Possible Effect of Bergamot Citrus Extract against Amikacin-induced Nephrotoxicity in Male Rats) in Toxicology and Environmental Health Sciences
Of the springer nature publishing house in Korea, with an impact factor of (2.8) and within Scopus containers.

The research involved studying drug-induced nephrotoxicity, which is a major cause of kidney disease.  Amikacin is one of the most potent aminoglycosides, however, its characteristic induction of nephrotoxicity is a clinical problem, and significant efforts have been directed towards reducing or preventing such serious nephrotoxicity through the use of antioxidant supplements, especially of natural origin such as citrus fruits.  Therefore, the aims of this study are to investigate the protective benefits of citrus bergamot extract in male rats with amikacin-induced acute kidney injury.
