ISO 9001 is the most common quality management system standard in the world, which has been awarded to more than one million organizations in 180 countries around the world. Standard 9001 is the only standard that can be used to assess conformity from the 9000 series of standards published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). ISO 9001 also forms the basis for industry-specific standards such as ISO 13485 (Medical Devices), ISO/TS 16949 (Automotive), AS/EN 9100 (Aerospace) and management systems such as OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001.
