The College of Pharmacy inaugurated the Molecular and Viral Research Laboratory on the occasion of the fifty-fifth anniversary of the founding of the University of Basrah  Dr. Iyad Qassem, Head of Clinical Laboratory Sciences department stated that the laboratory contains several units, including the PCR unit, the Real Time PCR unit, the diagnostic unit for pathogenic bacteria and fungi, testing their sensitivity to antibiotics, extracting the MIC value using the Vitek 2 compact device, in addition to equipping the laboratory with a Mini device.  vidas for hormonal and immunological diagnosis and unit for separating DNA and RNA.
