The College of Pharmacy equips its laboratories with several important scientific devices

 The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah has equipped the laboratories of Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants department with a Soxhlet extractor device, a Reflux device, and a rotary evaporator device, which are devices used to extract active substances from plants in general and medicinal plants in particular.
the assistant professor, Dr. Ola Muhammad Nour Al-Moussawi, explained: It is possible to extract active substances from medicinal plants, and some active substances from poisonous plants, such as alkaloids and phenols, and extract oils from some seeds. This is part of the research of students of the fifth stage of preliminary studies, where students work on studying plants collected from different regions.  From Iraq in terms of pharmaceutical and chemical composition, which are plants that have not been studied before.
